Priest Island

Priest Island, also known as Eilean a Chleirich, is renowned for being an RSPB reserve, hosting one of the UK’s largest storm petrel colonies. The island also provides a habitat for coastal nesting seabirds, pygmy shrews, and otters. Historically, the name of the island may have originated from its role as an “early Christian retreat,” which could explain its association with priests.
